About The Author

Doug Means is the author of the San Diego Networking blog.  Doug’s own business is hosting web sites at Regional Internet. While first established in this business in 1998 (first through “Q87 International”, then as “Regional Internet” starting in 2002), the client base for the business grew exponentially as soon as focus was placed on marketing via word-of-mouth, and taking advantage of opportunities to meet with other professionals in the local community face-to-face.

Today, Doug is a Director in San Diego for BNI – the world’s largest business referral organization – and he provides monthly networking workshops and training to help hundreds of local BNI members improve their networking skills.  He also organizes business-focused events (with – surprise! – great networking opportunities) each month for over 1500 individuals (as of September, 2008) in the San Diego Entrepreneur Meetup Group, the San Diego Small Business Meetup Group, and the San Diego Network Marketing Meetup Group.

Previous experience includes being a Web Developer at Turfclub.com, Inc. (2000-2001), Regional Manager at TRICK Racing Gasoline (1988-1990 & 1992-1998), and as a Haagen Dazs Store Manager in Boulder, Colorado (1990-1991).

Personal interests and hobbies include spending time with family, NASCAR, San Diego Padres baseball, NCAA Football, officiating youth sports, and embarking on Baja California (Mexico) travel adventures.  Doug also spends time as owner, administrator and moderator of the most active online forum board for Baja California travelers at:

A graduate of both La Jolla High School and Arizona State University, Doug is active in the Alumni organizations at both schools.
